San Diego-Mexico 2026

After a 2025 season without any west coast sailings, Atlantis makes up for it with a second cruise to Mexico, this time from San Diego in November. The LA-Mexico cruise in April surpassed my expectations in terms of the diversity and amount of cruisers, indicating pent-up demand for west coast itineraries. Combined with strong initial demand for this sailings on the Koningsdam and it’s shaping up to be a great cruise!

Hey Joey, what’s this cruise gonna be like?

Hey Joey, what’s this cruise gonna be like?

Best For…

  • Visiting Mexico, especially the very gay-friendly Puerto Vallarta

  • Those living on/near the west coast

  • A great balance between partying, socializing, and relaxing - I think this will be one of the most well-rounded, something-for-everyone cruises in 2026

  • A very diverse crowd, based on past Cali-Mexico cruises, including the LA-Mexico one this April

  • A low-cost Atlantis cruise - this is the least-expensive sailings I’ve seen in the last couple of years

  • Those who wanna visit Los Angeles / SoCal before or after the cruise (I live in Weho!)

Not For…

  • Massive hardcore dance parties - it’s not gonna be at the level of the “big” cruise in February

  • Ports in different countries - all ports are in Mexico, and PV is far and away the main attraction

Crowd

  • Americans will make up the vast majority, probably over 95% judging by the LA-Mexico cruise in April

  • Most cruisers will be in their 40s to 60s, but I think there will be a decent amount of cruisers under 40

Vibe

  • Lively but not crazy, with more of a community feel on this slightly smaller ship. Good balance between relaxing and some partying.

Good for New Cruisers?

  • Yes - this will probably be the best one this year for new cruisers given the affordable price point, a smaller ship that’s less intimidating to navigate, and a balanced onboard vibe.

  • The only new cruisers I might not recommend this for are those that are eyeing the Allure 2027 cruise for the higher energy, massive parties, and younger crowd.
